Adi Steurbaut is an adept from “De Stijl” and mainly from Piet Mondriaan. He finds his inspiration by the art (and the artists) from the twenties last century. He describes himself as a retro-artist or retro-constructivist. The square (Malevich) becomes important, together with circle and triangle. Research brought the discovering of an abstract movie (“Symphonie diagonale”, 1924 by Viking Eggeling) that was an inexhaustible source of inspiration. Adi Steurbaut is a magician with colors, with primary colors and primary forms; his frivolous color ribbon is remarkable present.
